Non Stop RTC - September 2011 |
At 4.45am on Saturday 24th September a vehicle travelling down Kneeton Road, East Bridgford (travelling from the direction of Kneeton towards East Bridgford) swerved to avoid a parked car and collided with a wall on the opposite side of the road.
Neighbours heard the collision and looked out. They saw a silver Ford Focus (old shape) drive off with out leaving details but no registration was obtained.
Did anyone see or hear anything in relation to the incident.
Any information will be gratefully received.

2012 EAST BRIDGFORD CALENDAR - September 2011 |
Many of my calendars are sent to overseas destinations. For this reason I have made a special effort this year to bring out the calendar early because the last surface mail posting date for many oversees countries is the beginning of October if it is required to arrive before Xmas. Unbelievable but true!
To make it truly local, the photos I have taken are all within the village or within 1 mile of the centre. As far as possible they reflect the month they relate to. The calendar may seem expensive compared to commercially produced calendars because I do not have economies of scale. As for personal profit, I actually made a loss last year.

LARK IN THE PARK - August 2011 |
Land-locked West Bridgford will be turned in to a pirates’ playground this summer as the town's award-winning free play day 'Lark in the Park' takes on a distinctively nautical theme.
The swashbuckling adventure will cast off from Bridgford Park on Wednesday
3 August from 10am until 4pm. Along the way there'll be hunts for buried treasure, sea shantie sing-a-longs, sports, arts and craft stalls as well as a giant pirate themed inflatable play zone. Novice buccaneers should head to the pirate school where Captain Red will teach them the art of dancing and swordsmanship and where they can be decked out in the latest pirate fashions.
The event, now in its 23rd year, is organised by Rushcliffe Borough Council's Cultural Services team in partnership with local business, clubs and community groups. In 2010 it won the 'Friendly Event' award at the National Outdoor Event Awards, cementing a reputation as an unmissable part of summer for local families.
A special temporary car park for visitors to Lark in the Park will be located in Bridge Field on Bridgford Road. The charge will only be £2 for an all day stay.
For more information, visit www.rushcliffe.gov.uk/larkinthepark or call

BOGUS COLLECTIONS WARNING - June 2011
|
A concerned resident has reported recieving a collection bag posted in his letter box recently which appeared a bit suspect. The only information on the bag that could be followed up and authenticated was a Company registration number which flags up a non-descript company name and details.
The bag is marked "Our new project needs your support FOR JAPAN" and asks for "ladies, gents and childrens clothing, paired shoes, handbags, belts, bath and hand towels, bedding and curtains, cuddly toys, underwear ..... even a small donation will help. Thankyou"
On further investigation of the company name VAIDAURA Ltd, he found many reports of other villages targeted by these collectors, warning people that there are no accounts, no records of donations, or gifts to causes, and that this is NOT a charity collection.

PLAY AREA CLOSURE - May 2011
|
East Bridgford Parish Council give notice of temporary closure of the Butt Field Play Area
Contractors will be on the site of the playground and parts of Butt field leading to it during the week beginning 9th May to carry out essential upgrading, repairs and making good grass areas. Some features, in particular the zip wire and toddler slide, will be out of use completely until the changes are completed and landscaping becomes established. A more general closure may be necessary when machinery etc is being used. Cars will not be allowed on to the field to allow re-seeded areas to germinate.
The Parish Council apologises for any inconvenience caused during this period, but these works are necessary to ensure that the Play Area is both as safe and as good as it is possible to make it.

Mindful of the Outlaw Triathlon in the area on 24 July the closure is likely to commence on or after the 25 July. The duration of this second closure is currently thought to be needed for around 3 weeks but this will be confirmed nearer the time.

OPEN GARDENERS - January 2011 |
Two keen gardeners have hit upon a novel solution for publicising charity Open Gardens events - a website dedicated to town and village Open Gardens.
Run by volunteers, simple to use and with a clever search facility, the site allows people to find out about Open Gardens events in your local area or indeed at the other end of the country.
The website supports the smaller event organisers, those volunteers who bring together gardeners and gardens, plant enthusiasts and hobbyists, Hosta lovers and Pelargonium fanciers - the melting pot of Middle England that is Open Gardens.
The site offers a real opportunity to get much needed publicity.
For people who enjoy visiting gardens open for charity, the site gives full details of events happening in your area.

ENERGY
SAVING WEEK: 19-25 October 2009
|
Colder weather means bigger gas and electricity bills, but making your home more energy efficient could cut your household costs by hundreds of pounds a year.
With national Energy Saving Week running in its thirteenth year from October 19th - 23rd, now’s the time to take action.
Run by the Energy Saving Trust, this year’s theme, WASTE, highlights how we waste money, energy and time through bad habits in the home and explores simple behavioural changes that can help us to stop wasting and start saving.
Saving energy means saving the planet too! The less energy we use, the less CO2 we produce, giving every one of us the power to help in the fight against climate change.

WEB SITE & EMAIL ISSUES - February 2009
|
Once

www.eastbridgford.net
and then a little later as
www.eastbridgford.com,
however, about 12 months ago, after some administrative
problems, it was moved to a new domain:
www.eastbridgford.org.
People may have been successfully using the old domains
which had been re-routed to

Back in November, problems were experienced with the
eastbridgford.net domain,
and now in January, the same issues have occurred with
